Relationships and Health Education (RHSE)

The new curriculum for RHSE is compulsory from September 2020. Schools are required to begin teaching the full curriculum throughout the 2020/21 academic year and have their full curriculum in place by the start of the summer term 2021.

The curriculum covers many aspects of growing up in the modern world including personal and social development, healthy bodies and mental health, relationships, personal safety, British Values and changes to the human body through our life cycle.

We have designed our approach to make RHSE accessible, age appropriate and enjoyable for all year groups across the school. Our aim is to ensure our children are well-prepared with the knowledge and skills they need to live safe, healthy and fulfilled lives, knowing how to look after themselves, each other and how to deal with experiences they face at school and in the wider world.

The information on this page of the website is designed to help parents understand the expectations of the curriculum, how school will deliver this to our pupils and how links are made between the subjects covering relationships, health and science.

Our RHSE has been implemented during the 2020/21 academic year and will be embedded in our teaching across the academy from September 2021.
